All programs are designed to be completed in a relatively short amount of time, and courses are offered days, evenings, and on the weekends. NCE’s Medical Assistant program is achievable in a short amount of time - as few as 36 weeks! Students learn the skills to complete both clinical and administrative tasks, including measuring patients’ vital signs, administering medications and injections, recording information in medical recordkeeping systems, filing and maintaining patients’ medical records, filling out insurance forms, and arranging for hospital admission and laboratory services. Students also learn the communication and interpersonal skills needed to act as a patient coordinator between the patient and the medical staff. Upon completion of the 9 month program, graduates will be prepared to test for the National Healthcareer Association Certification from the NHA.
NCE’s Lab Assistant/EKG Technician/Phlebotomist program can similarly be completed in just 9 months! Students learn to perform important clinical procedures, including laboratory procedures for hematology, bacteriology, urinalysis, electrocardiography, and phlebotomy. Students also develop communication and interpersonal skills. Upon completion of the 9 month program, students are CPR certified and are prepared to obtain the California Phlebotomy Technician (CPT1) Certification from the State of California.
